Kindergarten MD

The kindergarten “Grobnički tići” in Mošćenička Draga is located near the town center, surrounded by family houses and nature, while being sufficiently set back from the main road.

The contemporary kindergarten covers 400 square meters and accommodates around 50 local children in three groups. The single-storey building includes standard kindergarten units, a multipurpose hall, sanitary facilities, a cloakroom, a children’s day room, an infirmary, office spaces, a kitchen, a boiler room, a laundry, storage areas, and a spacious outdoor yard adapted for children’s activities.

The building volume is derived from the conceptual organization of functional zones within the kindergarten. It is divided into two volumes, separated both in height and layout, further defined by sun protection elements in the form of elongated frames on the façades.

The main entrance, located on the southwest façade, is emphasized by a canopy volume and a paved entrance terrace. On the southeast façade, a service entrance connects the interior with outdoor play and activity areas. This entrance provides access to the children’s playground zone via an external paved terrace.

Each kindergarten unit has its own paved outdoor terrace, accessed through a covered space directly adjacent to the unit. Alongside these terraces are planting beds intended for cultivating native plant species.

The surrounding landscape consists of natural terrain, landscaped with native plants such as rosemary, bay, lavender, and grapevine, while taller greenery is formed by indigenous fruit trees arranged in a planned grid.
