Shopping center Omišalj

The building is located along the main island road connecting the town of Krk with the bridge. The gentle slope of the terrain towards the road, combined with the orientation of customer and service entrances on the opposite side, enabled the formation of a simple, solid volume elevated on columns above a covered parking area.

The existing low vegetation will be replaced with lawn and taller greenery that emphasizes the topography of the gentle slopes.

Additional service spaces for technical functions, as well as canopies for the pedestrian ramp, entrance, and hospitality area, are attached to the main building volume.

The simple and rational form of the main volume is partially elevated on columns above the surrounding terrain. The façades are predominantly closed, in accordance with the building’s function, and clad in prefabricated reinforced concrete panels. All openings and additional functions are contained within attached volumes executed in exposed concrete.

The more freely designed annex adapts in form to its program and introduces a degree of dynamism to the main volume.

The roof is flat and non-accessible, with a structure designed to accommodate HVAC equipment and solar panels.
